Privacy Policy

Effective October 23, 2026

Notary-2-U (“we”, “us”) is a mobile notary service run by Laura Anderson, a California Notary Public serving the Greater Sacramento area. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It is written to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

Information we collect

  • Appointment requests: your name, email address, phone number, the address where you would like to meet, the type of document, the number of signers, your preferred day and time, and any notes you add.
  • Contact messages: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
  • Reviews: the name and text you choose to share, and an optional email address so we can thank you. Reviews appear on the site only after we approve them.
  • Newsletter: your name and email address. We confirm every subscription by email before sending anything.
  • Visit statistics: we count page visits on our own server without cookies. Your IP address is never stored; a visitor is counted with a code that changes every day, so no one can be followed from one day to the next. Our hosting and security provider keeps standard server logs for security.

Your documents are never uploaded to or stored on this website. We review them in person at your appointment.

The notary journal

California law (Government Code § 8206) requires every notary to keep a journal of each notarization: the date, the type of document, each signer’s name and address, how identity was verified, the ID details and, for certain documents such as deeds and powers of attorney, a thumbprint. This journal is kept on paper, separately from the website, under the protection the law requires, and it is shown only as the law allows.

How we use your information

  • To answer your request, schedule and carry out your appointment, and follow up about it.
  • To answer your questions.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the website secure and working.

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information for marketing. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site (website hosting and security by Cloudflare, and our own email server), or when the law requires it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, Google Analytics or social media trackers. The site remembers your light/dark display choice in your browser. Our spam protection on forms (Cloudflare Turnstile) may use a strictly necessary cookie, and the admin area uses a sign-in cookie for the owner only.

Do Not Track

When your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, we do not count your visit in our statistics. We do not track visitors across other websites, and we do not allow third parties to do so on ours.

How long we keep it

We keep appointment requests and messages as long as needed to serve you and for our business records, visit statistics for up to 400 days, and newsletter details until you unsubscribe. Journal records are kept as California law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold from this website at any time; just contact us. We will answer within 30 days. Records the law requires us to keep, such as the notary journal, cannot be deleted.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
