She is very familiar with the entire real estate loan process and the associated documents and has demonstrated her strong ethical commitment to deterring fraud. Becoming a notary was a natural complement to her extensive background in real estate.

California Notary Appointment Checklist
1. Bring Valid Identification
California law requires that you present one of the following forms of identification, which must be current or issued within the past 5 years:
Tier 1 (Preferred)
- California Driver’s License or ID Card
- U.S. Passport
Tier 2 (Acceptable if Tier 1 is unavailable)
- Driver’s License or ID from another U.S. state
- Canadian or Mexican Driver’s License
- U.S. Military ID
- Employee ID issued by a California state or local agency
- Federally recognized tribal government ID
- Foreign Passport (must be stamped by U.S. Customs or DHS)
If you lack acceptable ID:
- Bring two credible witnesses who know you and can provide valid identification
- Witnesses must not be named in the document or have a financial interest related to the document.
2. Prepare Your Documents
- Do not sign the document before the appointment; the notary must witness your signature.
- Ensure all pages are included, even those without signatures.
- If additional copies are needed, bring them along.
3. Understand the Notarization Type
- Does your document require an Acknowledgement or Jurat?
- Acknowledgment: You confirm you signed the document willingly.
- Jurat: You swear or affirm the truthfulness of the document's contents.
4. Confirm Appointment Details
- Verify the date, time, and location of your appointment.
